Citicards watch out!

In my personal opinion: This company SUCKS! I had a CC dispute going on with them for over a month. I lost $2,000.00 to scammers because of them. They told me that it was not worth their time to go through arbitration, as it would cost them too much money. I was also promised a $350.00 credit to my account because of all of the problems that I had during the dispute period. I called today to ask where my $350.00 credit was, and I was informed that my credit was denied. Nice way to go about business eh? Credit card companies USED TO go to bat for their customers. I DO NOT personally recommend you use this company for anything.

Citicard harrassing greatgrandmother

After being polite 6 times when call center representatives called me, explaining that they have the wrong number and having them tell me they would remove it from their database I stopped being nice. Now it's been over 13 times they have called and the last time I asked to speak to a supervisor and the person who called (with a deep Southern drawl) forgot to hit mute and I heard him say "how long should I keep this little woman on hold - she wants to speak to a supervisor because she said we have been harassing her" - laughter followed and then he hit the mute button. I called back and got someone who apologized and promised she would make sure I was never contacted again and that she would make sure my complaint got transferred up the chain to someone who would ensure their staff treated people better. Five (5) minutes after getting off the phone with her, I got another call .. this time from Dedra - TCO6916 from Citicard. I told her that I had just gotten off the phone, what the issue was and how I was (once again) promised that it would not happen again. She said, well ma'am these little problems happen as we all make mistakes .. I told her this wasn't a little problem as we work nights and they were, in effect, calling us at 2AM. She couldn't have cared less. Here is the phone number - please call them and ask them to stop creating so much grief and if they get enough calls maybe then they will take my phone number out of the system. Call - 1-87*-437-**** and keep pressing zero until you get a real person. Thank you

Citi Bank bonus points forever???

Updated by user Apr 02, 2012

I thought that Citibank might respond since I have been a customer for many years and still am. I have not received any response from them. I have cut back 90% on my business with them.

Original review Mar 01, 2012
If you look at their material, "Thank You Rewards or any portion thereof may be revised or terminated with 30 days prior written notice." I had a Citi Bank Air mile card . When I signed up they told me my miles would be there forever until I needed them. Citi Bank terminated over a1,000 air miles of mine without any kind of compensation. Of course my wife and I had to have enough air miles for a round trip before we could use them. After they canceled our air miles, Citi Bank started another card that you can use for air trips. Citi Bank converted our card over to the new card. They say the points you earn are there until you need them unless you read the fine print. If Citi Bank gets to many points out there, they can just give 30 day notice and wipe out your bonus points at no cost to Citi Bank. I wonder how much money they saved when they terminated everyone's outstanding air miles???!!! Thanks very much for your support.Eugene Toleman

The air miles are not controlled by Citi. Citi has the American Airlines card, and the miles are controlled by American Airlines. It is American Airlines, not Citi, that took away your miles.

They basically bent me over to! I earned 73,293 points using my Sears Citi card this year which pays one point for every dollar spent toward their Sears Choice Rewards Program.

Last month I spent over $13,000 using my Sears Citi Bank credit card, and I paid the balance off as usual to avoid paying interest, with the intention of requesting an iPad II next month which was approx. 90,000 pt. I wanted the iPad to use as a baby monitor because my wife and I are expecting our first child in September, a baby girl! Well, low & behold Sears & Citi bank closed my account two days ago for absolutely no reason other than to avoid paying me the miles/points I had accrued.

Is this legal? Do I have any recourse? They have been very stand-offish and acted peculiar when I’ve asked them questions about why. I was transferred to many departments and once I was finally able to speak to a Manager named Vince (Mgr.

Ref.# BRSR05) he told me that I would not be rewarded the points I had earned or the new points because I was “high risk.” This confuses me because the only high risk I offer is a high risk that I will pay my credit card on time as I have as long as I’ve had it and a high risk that, in turn, I will be rewarded with points as illustrated in their program. He said that is all of the information he had and gave me the phone number to the Adverse Action Department; (800) 663-****. I simply want to alert local consumers here in Austin &/or nationwide to please be leery of this unfair & biased scheme. It irks me beyond disbelief that two reputable companies such as Sears & Citi bank would participate in such a wrongful practice; talk about being blind-sided.

Here is their fine print which basically gives them the opportunity to *** if they want to by cancelling your account at anytime... "If your membership is terminated (including if your Account is closed), or if you decide to cancel your membership in Sears Choice Rewards, all accumulated Points will be forfeited." All I can say is wow! & ouch!! This is terribly unethical, unjust, & wrong.

And this is yet another case of big banks and big industry sticking it to the lower to middle class. I am a Persian Gulf War veteran and I don’t think this any way to be treated on Memorial Weekend or any day for that matter.

:( I'm pissed!

REDUCING CREDIT LIMIT

CITIBANK CREDIT CARD REDUCED MY CREDIT LIMIT FROM 10,000 TO 750.00 BECAUSE LIKE MILLIONS OF OTHERS OUR HOUSE IS IN A SHORT SALE. BUT I ALWAYS PAY MY BALANCE OFF EVERY MONTH AND HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE ON A PAYMENT. BUT MY COMPLAINT IS'NT SO MUCH THAT AS WE BAILED THEM OUT AND THIER CALL CENTER IN IN THE PHILLIPINES. WE BAIL OUT COMPANIES WITH OUR TAX DOLLARS AND THEY SEND JOBS TO OTHER COUNTRIES WHEN OUR UNEMPLOYMENT IS SKY HIGH HERE. IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS OR ARE WE JUST GOING TO KEEP BAILING OUT COMPANIES TO SEND JOBS TO OTHER COUNTRIES

Citibank Stole My Rewards

Cancelled my card for making TOO many cash payments. I lost more than $1200 rewards and they respond with IM SORRY SIR. I never missed a payment(balance in full) every month in more than 2 years. Account canceled without warning. I opened the account to eventually have new windows put in my house by Sears. I assume they didnt want to pay up the REWARDS money and decided to close my account to save them some money. I called SEARS and CITIBANK and both defended each other by giving me the run around. I am punished for making my payments in cash.

Citi Cards wouldn't explain to me what would happen with an overpayment...

About two weeks ago, a gentleman (***) I WAS dating, offered to pay off the remaining $3,000 on my credit card. I reluctantly let him do so. Upon checking my balance online (which I do often), I saw the check had cleared, BUT I had an over payment of 3,000 on there. He says (lies) that while he sent in the physical check, his assistant also paid by computer to my account, which gave me an overpayment of 3gs. Days later I find that my original balance is back because his checking account was CLOSED (bankruptcy issues). I wasn't upset about that so much, but am more concerned that somehow Citi will send HIM a check for 3gs (the original overpayment amt) because it was his check that put me in overpayment. He says that if anything, the check will come to me because it is my account, but it will probably not come at all, as they see that my acct is now the old balance, and they wouldhn't have automatically sent out a check 2 days after it cleared and I went into overpayment. Does this make sense to anyone? Because Citi would not help me when I asked them. I am worried that he will get a check in HIS name, but he swears it's impossible. Obviously, I don't trust him as it is (closed my account, because he had the number, and ordered stuff with my card), so I'm a but nervous that they will send him a check, he will cash it, and I will have another 3gs added to my account. Help?!?!?!

I'm sure they will send you a check in the overpayment amount, to you, because it's your account and they have your address, etc. Just call them back and ask when they will cut the check and when you can expect it - or ask if they can do a direct deposit into your checking account.

Yet another way for Citibank to hit you with fees

I changed banks 11-25-11 and changed my Citicard autopay preferences 12-15-11 to the new bank. The new autopay was to be effective within 6-9 days per Citicard's website. BUT! the 1-16-12 autopay STILL came out of the old bank even though my autopay preferences show the NEW account as the default. Had I not still had the old account open with enough money in it to make the payment I probably would have been hit with an NSF AND a late payment charge by Citibank AND a returned item fee from my OLD bank. I keep up with these accounts almost daily so I can find *** like this but I am sure most people either do not or cannot and end up getting basically raped financially by these heartless goons over and above these outrageous interest charges they impose.

Citi Cards does not want to help you pay your bill

I have been trying to pay off my citi card balance for years. I was on a payment plan with citi cards that I could afford for a year. The year was up and now they are asking for more that double what I was paying them. I called them hopping to get on another payment plan. I was told I will not be eligible for another year. I am trying to work with them but they will not work with me. They told me to pay what I can until I can catch up but if I did that I will still be charged fees and continue to get phone calls. I want to pay this off but because of their policies I will never get out of this debt. I told them that I cannot afford the payment they want but they seemed unconcerned. Any ground that I might have made during the year payment plan is going to be lost during this next year. It is a scam. They want to be paid and I want to pay them but they are not willing to be flexible.

I too had a payment plan w/Citi-card. I was never told that it was for 1 year.

Spoke w/ rep and paid 54.00 and made arrangement for my balance of 53.00 to be deducted the following month. Citi-card FAILED to notate the acct and now they state I owe $156.00. Their supervisor agreed to waive 2 months of overdue fees because of their mistake. However, by waiving the 2 month fee-it is the same as admitting the mistake.

Which, in the eye of the consummer, it's the same as being just a little bit pregnant.

It IS no wonder as to why so many people are upset with CITI card. I myself am going to post a magnetic sign to my car so that everyone traveling the I-4 corridor from Tampa to Orlando will be able to read all about it!

Citi Corp/Sudden drop of limit, increased interest %

Check you credit !! I have had citicorp credit cards for several years. I was shocked to have a sudden decrease of my available credit (from 40% of the limit used to almost 95% of the limit). I quickly called the number on the letter to ask what had happened, the only answer was "sorry the computer does that automatically". I asked when it was the last time I was late on a payment? Answer 1 time in 84 months. This increased my interest from 13.5% to 22% instantly. Shortly after, more of my cards did the same thing a total of 4 cards, also increasing my interest. I quickly took the money out of my savings and paid off the creditor that did this. I also closed the cards which puts a mark on my credit. 2 of my favorites were from sears, Sears said they had no control over the cards issued with their logo...I have not purchased anything from sears since. I kept my limits down for back up reasons and to keep my credit in good standing. I pulled my credit report and found nothing unusual but now My credit scores went down from a decent score of 720 +-to about 600+-. I guess this leaves a couple of questions..(1)Is this something the banking industry doing to make more money? (2) Did this bank just recently borrow the American peoples money? Lastly I get mailings to apply for credit from Citi Corp weekly "can you imagine?" NO WAY !! LOL. PS. Am I alone? did this happen to others?

You were flagged because you were late on a payment. If you had the cash to pay off the card in the bank, why are you running up debt on a credit card??

Do like I do and pay cash for everything except online purchases, and then pay off the card in full each month.

Why would you ever want to pay anyone interest?? I have never paid interest, for anything, in my life.

Delays payment, then puts a hold on payment

I had trouble with Citi posting payments before, but what has occurred since I paid them $6,400.00 is insane. I sent the payment over 2 weeks ago. They have just now credited it to my account (3 days ago), and although my account shows that I have available credit, my purchases have been declined.

I verified the payment was received 3 days ago, and they said I had approx. $7,000 in credit available. I went to the store, tried to use the card, and it was declined. I called Citibank and they told me that yes, they received the payment, and that although they verified my credit available they meant after my payment is released. The girl said that since I made the payment from a different account number than I usually make payments that they would be holding the check for 14 days.

I told her this was unacceptable. I asked why I wasn't informed. She said they sent me a letter, that day (3 days after receiving the payment). I asked why they did not communicate with me via email like I requested, and was told that they send letters only due to security concerns.

So, tonight, after spending the whole day at the hospital with my husband I called to see if the hold had been removed yet. I was told yes, and that I had approx. 7,000 in credit. I called to order a pizza for my kids. My card was declined.

I am used to BS from banks, and normally it wouldn't be so bad, but we are short of cash since our dishwasher, clothes washer and freezer all broke in one week. And, also my husband was in the hospital due to a fluke illness.

I am really pissed since I have never missed a payment, and made a large payment also. I feel like they are just being ***

Citicard credit card company is a joke

I received an offer in the mail from Citicard with my name on it. I have a credit score of 700 plus, have two credit cards and have never been late on any of my payments and they turned me down. It was a zero percent balance transfer offer that I was going to transfer my balance on my other credit card to. I am tired of people who pay there bills suffering for what others do. Seems like, if you work hard and pay your bills you are lumped in with those who do not pay their bills on time or at all. Makes me wonder what this world come to.

WOW. Here's one: I've been paying off my debt on a card from Citi, making payments every month for almost two years.

Last month I called them to make one final payment because I now have the money to pay it off in full, and after six hours of HORRIBLE conversations from these *** people, I still am "not allowed" to pay off my account! So now i'm doing nothing; eventually they'll call me for money, and i'll settle for pennies on the dollar ;)

Citibank has Horrid Customer Service!

What a horrible experience!

I have used citibank credit cards for over 3 years. I pay all of my expenses monthly on it and pay it off each month. I'm always on time. I cannot believe the lack of customer service I encountered!

A MACHINE called my cell phone 1-2 x daily for weeks! I was up to date on all of my cards, and each time I called in they said that everything was fine and apologized. Yet, the calls kept coming. At this point it is harassment. If it weren't for AA mileage points I would have left a long time ago. Today I called again, and invested another 35 minutes to this issue. The first two people that I talked to could not find a problem. I asked to speak to the manager, and was told that he/she was busy. Then I said I had to talk to someone else, because these calls must stop and they are not getting it done. They had me call ANOTHER number and talk to customer service. After the first person had trouble finding a problem, I assured him something was not right. I kept getting calls, he must find it. He eventually found a closed account that I had paid in full that had a couple of transactions slide through after I closed the account with a representative. I no longer had access to the account because things were paperless, and I had shredded my card. I didn't even know what the card number was. So after talking with the rep, he would not credit my account of numerous late fees and finance charges. I asked to speak with the manager who eventually credited my account of the late fees but made me pay the finance charge. How obsurd! I have been harrassed, and have been an excellent customer spending in the upwards of 3-5K a month for them and pay it off each month. I cannot believe this lack of service and incompetence. I will be changing cards soon. Stear clear of citibank! They are in business to serve themselves.

Unfortunately, hostility, and unpleasant customer service, seems to be the dominant culture at Citibank.

I just got off the phone with another extremely hostile, unpleasant Citibank credit card rep. I was a Citibank customer for over 15 years. I rarely need to contact Citibank, and I was very upset to be met with such hostility, and rude customer service, when I recently called.

At this point I no longer want anything to do with Citibank. My accounts are now closed, and I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Citi Credit Card Customer Service Is TERRIBLE

Okay so here's the deal. I applied for my first credit card ever, and was accepted (yayyyy i was so excited). This process was very simple and I commend Citi for that...let alone that is the ONLY thing they did correctly. After receiving my card I called in to ask some questions, since I'm new to the whole credit thing. I reached a foreign girl (Indian) and I could barely understand her. She didn't answer the questions I asked her, yet instead read me a 30 second spiel describing different features I could add to my account. I insisted that all I wanted was a basic credit card, and that I would pay the balance every month. She read me the spiel again. I said no thank-you, I do not want to be in this program. She read me it AGAIN. At this point I'm frustrated because my questions are unanswered and this foreign dummy keeps trying to sign me up for features I do not want. I screamed at her that she is being rude, and that I want to be transferred to another representative. She transferred me and a lady that spoke decent English helped me. Finallllly after 45 minutes of holding and frustration, success. *phew* So a few weeks pass and it's about time to pay my first bill and I get a letter in the mail from Citi. I expected this to be the bill, but instead it was two papers saying I was enrolled in a "customer protection" program and something else. Both programs cost money to be in monthly, and NEITHER of which I vouched to join. I call them to ask what the *** is going on and I get some foreign representative again (I'm thinking "Oh God..."). I asked her to please withdraw me from the programs, and that I never signed up for them. I also mentioned how terrible the last representative was, and how she probably signed me up behind my back. This new representative didn't listen to a word I said and instead gave me a fricken spiel about how beneficial the programs were. For example: "Sir, if you stay in the program you will be protected from any late payments due to job loss, divorce, spouse death, heavy medical bills....etc". Oh and the best thing about this is that my card is only for College Students. What college student would run into any of those problems?! I told her that I am pissed off and I want to be removed NOW. She tried convincing me again and I admit I yelled at her. I asked to be transferred to her manager, but instead this foreign numskull just did as I asked and removed me from the programs. No other credit card will accept me until I establish a credit score, but dear god when I can change credit providers I will. Citi Credit Card customer service is deathly awful. I would love to rate it a .5/10 only because it was easy signing up.

Citibank practices unethical

I've had a Citibank credit card for 22 years. I've always paid it on time, never over the limit, good customer. Last year, they informed me they were raising my rate to 29.99%, BUT they would credit back ~50% of the interest if I made my payment on time. I had a choice to opt out, close my card, and just pay it off at my current rate of 12%. I chose NOT to opt out at that time because this is my longest-standing credit card BY FAR and the 'length of credit history' aspect of my FICO score would be impacted, so I went with the option to pay the 29.99%, but only because I would get about 1/2 of that interest credited back each month, as long as I made my payments on time. Fast forward 8 months, and I just got a letter from Citibank saying they had to discontinue the 'interest back' program due to federal regulations, and I have to pay the full 29.99% interest. This makes my payment of $250 on a $12,900 balance shoot up to about $550/month going forward. I told them I wanted to opt out now, since the option I chose earlier is not an option now. They said sorry, but you can't opt out now because you already chose to go with the 29.99%. BUT THAT WAS WHEN I WAS TOLD I WOULD GET 50% CREDITED BACK, which is no longer an option. The Citibank person told me "sorry, it's not us, it's the federal regulations, we can't do anything about it". I CAN'T BELIEVE IT. So, what I did was just pay off my $12,900 balance immediately after I got off the phone with Citibank yestereday, as I will not be handing them $550/month, of which almost $350 will be in interest, causing me to NEVER be able to pay it back; that is insane and SO unfair. I can't believe they are allowed to do this, and go back on their agreement, and then tell me I have no choice, even though the option I once had is no longer an option (and that's out of their control). The sad part is I know a lot of people don't have the money to pay off debts like that, so they are forced to make those extreme interest payments. Or, they have a choice to work with their "assistance" department to try to reduce the balance owed. The sad part is that Citibank wins because either they get the extraordinary amount of interest from ME, or if I get "assistance" and they help reduce my balance owed, they get paid from the government for their "losses". They win, consumers lose, not only financially, but a lot of emotional upset in the process. So, anyway, glad I could pay it off, but can't imagine how people who can't pay must be suffering through these issues. I'm done with Citibank completely, will never use my card again. I am still leaving my credit card account open though, so as not to adversely affect my credit score, although I'm tempted to just close it and not worry about that. They lost a great customer due to their greed, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Everybody needs to stop using them!!

I understand the thought do I, or don't I get rid of CitiCard. I too considered/re-considered.

They penalized my son and his credit by putting one of his parents of $1500 into my act! It's been months trying to get Customer Service to get their numbers straight. I'm 78 and decided, WHO KNEEDS THIS HASSLE.

Got another card from someone else. I have no faith after being a customer for 30+ years to use them.

Guest

Same thing happened to me, except my balance was not that high, and I never received any notice from CitiBank.

This is so amazingly unethical and the fact that they can get away with this is mind blowing.

Private N

Because I like to have some savings in my account, just like to have some cash set aside in case something happens to me, an accident, lose my job, or whatever.

But, it became apparent that having the cash set aside was not as important as paying off this debt due to the huge rate increase, so used my cash to pay it off. So, now I'm building back up my cash reserve.

If you had the money to pay off this card

why would you pay 12% inthe first place
